Mazzy Star: Fade Into You
Declan McKenna : Brazil
Armed with a loop petal, watch one of the most promising artists coming out of the UK build an entire band for his breakthrough smash Brazil. In the span of about 30 seconds this British teen creates a backing band and then hops into his Vampire Weekend-esque take on South American footie. With so much talent at such a young age I am expecting huge things to come from this teenage troubadour.
Spring has sprung, possibly even giving way to an early summer (80 degrees on Easter?!?!?!). With the changes of the season come life, rebirth, new hope (beyond Luke Skywalker), and often enough an onslaught of new music. Trying to tantalize our auditory taste buds, artists will start releasing a song salvo here and there to get listeners excited for new material that they can hear during the summer festival season. With that in mind let’s take a look at some artists new and old who have peaked my interest with some amazing new music.
These types of lists are highly debatable so I’ll throw out the caveat already that these are just my choices, some have special meaning to me or merely really rock. I grew up in what became known as the Third Wave of Emo, from the mid 90’s to late 00’s, so if you are craving some Modern Baseball or American Football or any other sporting band they just aren’t in this time period. Also each band is only allowed to be on the list once, or else this would probably turn into a top 5 songs from 10 bands list. Without further ado….
Downtown Boys : Dancing in the Dark (originally by Bruce Springsteen)
Neil Halstead : Digging Shelters
