Friday Double Play: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door by Bob Dylan and Gun’s N’ Roses

Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door

What better way to kick a trip out to the Gopher State than a little Friday Double Play action from native son Robert Zimmerman, lesser known as Bob Dylan.  While both versions of the somber song questioning ones mortality paint a lucid picture, the composition is quite varied. .  In my mind I envision both songs being played at a funeral.  Dylan’s dirge accompanies an old southern field with weathered stones covered in moss surrounded by a baptist choir.  Gun’s N’ Roses  funeral is a tad bit different, set on the Sunset Strip with buxom blondes and tatted bikers slugging whiskey Irish wake style.
