American Football: Desire Gets in the Way
These famed emo forebearers are back with their second album, not to shabby considering they only took 17 years in between. While the same punchy melodic guitar attack that became their signature sound is still alive and kicking, some things have changed for the Midwest boys over the years. Opposed to their sparsely vocalized debut smash, songs on the upcoming record and most notable, Desire Gets in the Way, provide more of a traditional lyrical and melodic run down the hints of lead singer Mike Kinsella’s solo project Owen. The tale told is one of giving up dreams that may not come true based on the stability of the present, to take risks or be happy where you are.
Lyric to look out for: “For you, I’ll remain. Chanied to the bed we made.”
