Thursday Throwback: Academy Fight Song

Mission of Burma: Academy Fight Song

A precursor to The Pixies when it came to influential bands in the Boston indie rock community, Mission of Burma had a brief influential stint of 4 years in the early 80’s where they only released one EP and one LP.  Breaking up due to the lead singers tinnitus MOB  grew exponentially through the years where they weren’t actually active before reforming in 2002 and having a second wind releasing four more albums.  I discovered MOB when searching through online articles about old Boston music haunts back in the early days of AOL conducted internet searching.  Checking them out I became obsessed with this killer jam and even went so far as to make a commercial for my high school TV station with me crooning to it.   For those newly experiencing Mission of Burma, welcome, for those rediscovering a great post punk band, welcome back.
